Dear Teresa,
I live a simple, green life with my dog Max. My neighbors to the South, however, become the most wasteful, decadent creatures with each Christmas. As a minimalist, I am disgusted with their hollywho wreaths, jingtinglers, floofloovers, tartookas, gardookas, slooslunkas, whowoopers, and all of the NOISE it creates! I need help – I must find some way to stop Christmas from coming… but how?
Thank you,
G.

Dear G.,
Thank you for your question! I don’t think that you can stop Christmas from coming at all. You will find that even without all of the bizzlebinks and other commercial trappings, Christmas comes just the same. You can, however, do your part to make it more green and therefore truer to the real meaning of Christmas. First, you can make your own decorations out of stuff you already have around the house – like Santa and reindeer costumes for you and Max. Also, make your own gift wrap from old paper bags or newspapers. And if you must decorate with lights, replace your outdated bulbs with environmentally-friendly LED ones. Another important tip is to remember that after your Feast of Who Pudding and Rare Who Roast Beast, clean up with GreenItUp!’s MultiPurpose Cleaner and be sure to recycle empty cans of Who Hash. Green up your Christmas because Christmas does not come from a store – it means a little bit more.
Merry Christmas and Happy Cleaning!

Dear Teresa,
I need help with how to clean really, really tough stains from my shower. I am not talking your run of the mill soap scum or mold. My stain is from blood or maybe even Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Not sure. My bathroom is in black and white. What can you suggest?
Thank you,
Norman B.

Dear Norman,
Thank you for your question. The best, non-toxic way to clean a tough stain from your shower or tub is by making a mixture of baking soda and soap and chasing it with vinegar. I use 3 tbsps of baking soda and 1/4 cup of liquid castile soap. Mix these together with a fork to work out the clumps. Then spread it over the stained tub and scrub with a natural bristle brush. For extra abrasion, sprinkle kosher salt on the stain as well. (The salt mixed with water gives you an added anti-bacterial agent.)
You can spread the mixture on the stain and leave it for 30 minutes to a day. This way you spend less time scrubbing and have more time to do the things you enjoy like taxidermy, cross-dressing or hanging out in the fruit cellar with Mom!
After you have scrubbed, rinse with water and vinegar. If you have tile, avoid being too abrasive and rinse the vinegar immediately.
For whitening you may also want to scrub with lemon juice or oxygen bleach.
Hope this helps!
Happy Cleaning!
Teresa
