Most commercial Multi-Purpose cleaners contain the following:

Alcohol (Isopropanol or Isopropyl alcohol)

Made from petroleum, this ingredient can be fatal if even one ounce is swallowed. It is a depressant to your central nervous system and can cause headaches, dizziness, depression, nausea, vomiting and coma! Long-term effects are not known.

Ammonia

Aside from causing lung damage, ammonia will form a toxic chlorine gas when mixed with bleach. If you are like me, you have used multiple cleaners at once without considering the harm of any accidentally mixing.

Butyl Cellosolve (glycol ether family)

This ingredient used in heavier duty Multi-Purpose cleaners is easily absorbed into the skin and can damage your blood, liver, central nervous system and can cause kidney failure.

Multi-Purpose cleaners also contain a variety of toxic dyes and fragrances and often fine plastic particles. They also add time to your cleaning and drain your water because they are way too strong and sudsy leaving them difficult to rinse and causing sticky residues.
